LARN intends to bring together researchers internationally who are critically engaging with Live Art practices across different career stages, research contexts, and disciplinary boundaries.

Join Us in Shaping LARN

a new network for Live Art Researchers

LARN is currently in its founding phase. We are considering how LARN might hold events (e.g. conferences or symposiums), create publications and research resources, and apply collaboratively for funding grants (as a network or between network members). Our mailing list would also announce and celebrate relevant research publications and events relating to Live Art.

To express interest in joining LARN, please sign up to our mailing list below.

You will have the option to volunteer for our formative steering group. Please tick this option if you would like to be involved in establishing the network’s structure, creating the first committee, proposing a constitution, etc. The steering group will meet online to coordinate the formation of the network.

LARN is proposed by Dr Phoebe Patey-Ferguson and Dr Marcus Bell. It is supported by LADA, and in-person meetings will likely be held at LADA (in Bethnal Green, London), with online meetings hosted on Zoom to enable wider geographical participation.

Am I a Researcher?

LARN is intended to connect those working on/in Live Art research anywhere in the world – whether independently or affiliated to an institution (such as a university). Research is often defined as a process of investigation leading to new insights, effectively shared. We welcome all those who are actively researching at any stage of experience, those who may be interested in doing Live Art research in the future, or just want to hear more about current Live Art research.

LADA (Live Art Development Agency) supports those engaged or curious about Live Art, whether as an artist, curator, writer, producer, student, educator, researcher or activist.

If you have any further questions, please contact Phoebe (phoebe.patey-ferguson[at]bruford.ac.uk) or Marcus (m.bell[at]gold.ac.uk).
